VANGUARD Partners with Sharjah Art Foundation

VANGUARD is delighted to announce a new multi-year partnership with the Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF), one of the leading cultural institutions in the Middle East. The collaboration will encompass joint artist residencies, co-curated exhibitions, and shared research initiatives.

Under the terms of the partnership, two VANGUARD-nominated artists will be invited to undertake three-month residencies at SAF’s studios in Sharjah each year. The residencies will culminate in a joint exhibition presented in both Sharjah and Cairo.

“Sharjah Art Foundation has long been a beacon for contemporary art in the region,” says Dr. Amira Soliman. “This partnership allows us to create deeper, more sustained opportunities for artists and to build meaningful bridges between cultural ecosystems.”

The first cohort of resident artists will be announced in summer 2026. The partnership also includes a commitment to collaborative research and publishing, with a joint publication planned for 2027.

This announcement marks the latest in a series of institutional partnerships for VANGUARD, which has previously collaborated with organisations including the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art, the African Artists’ Foundation, and the British Council.
